Location, Location: an examination of what we can deduce about the real-world position of various places mentioned in the Harry Potter books.
I had originally envisioned this essay on the locations of various places mentioned in the Potter books, other than Hogwarts itself, as one web-page: but I realised that that resulted in a single page with 20Mb-worth of illustrations which would take forever to load, so I cut it into a series of individual sections. They make most sense if read in the order listed, as several of the sites are grouped quite closely together and their analysis builds on maps and descriptions from previous sections.
The pages look best viewed in Internet Explorer with the text size set to "Medium" and/or to 100%. Other browsers and/or text-sizes may result in empty gaps in the text. The images should resize themselves to fit all common browsers: if using Netscape/Mozilla Firefox you may occasionally find it necessary to Refresh the page to make the scripts for the resizing work.
