1982-83
As Barry Robertshaw prepared for a new life in South Africa, Ian Cunningham became the the Leagues new match secretary, and kept all records up to date by computer. He is a senior systems analyst at the Bradford office of a Hull computer firm.
Steve Kosmowsky joined the 100 club of Yorkshire league players.
Something that has never happened before in the Bradford league is that two teams in the same division went through a full fixture card without winning a single match between them; both meeting of Division one bottom clubs Yeadon and Heydemann Shaw ended in draws.
Dominion, with unusual strength for Division two, ran away with the title and were the first team to take 52 points in that section since St Wilfred's - Maurice Pitts and all - in 1949/50. Tony Bottomley was an ever present and won 76 out of 77 singles, Mick Stephenson strode off with 69 out of 71 and Les D'Arcy, the sprightly 63 year old Yorkshire official, won 23 out of 25 (David Lamb 20 out of 22).
The Rawnsley family acheived a rare distinction when all three qualified for the league averages. Father John in Division five (70.77%), son Andrew in Division six (83.46%) and mother Sheila in Division ten (73.85%).
All four Highdale teams gained promotion and the D team won the Hudson Trophy against Emplex. Unity clung on to their place amongst the National League elite but found it hard going. Most heartening was the progress of Steve Sharpe, their only ever present.
Tony Bottomly won the annual T&A hard bat tournanment and Mick Stephenson partnered by Mike Stead collected the doubles for the sixth time.
Whiteheads were awarded the Emile Seagard Trophy for the clubu which is a credit to the league. Linda Smith received the Forrest silver salver for service to the game, and the Forrest junior award went to Caroline Dada.
