This BRM was not outstanding and even after a revised and lightened car was developed things did not improve.
The 1979 Aurora AFX British Formula 1 Championship was set to run for 15 rounds (including visits to France - Nagaro, Holland - Zandvoort and Belgium - Zolder). A ground effect BRM P230 was due to be driven by Neil Bettridge. Neil ended up in a Tyrrell 008 of Melchester Racing.
