156478 old ScotRail colours, 156492 First livery, 156431 SPT Carmine and cream, and 156433 prototype SPT livery.

First ScotRail. Three more 156s were repainted into First 'barbie' livery by Bombardier at Derby during June.

156492 returned to Corkerhill on Monday 5th, 156458 returned on Monday 19th, and 156447 went south on June 6th and returned on Thursday 29th. (Photo).

The two ScotRail units at Derby at the end of the month are 156496 (south on Tuesday 20th) and 156457 (south on Friday 30th) (Photo).

Northern. 156482 was back in traffic at the end of June after C6 overhaul at Glasgow Works.

It was replaced by 156475, also of Neville Hill, which was noted travelling via the Edinburgh Suburban line on Monday 26th.

one has made a start on fitting new seat covers and aisle carpet to its 156 fleet.

156446 at Rutherglen 24.May.2006

Returning to Corkerhill after repaint and interior 'refresh' at Derby Works, 156.446 is photographed passing Rutherglen, 24 May 2006.

The 'willow leaf' upsweeps of the First Livery were added at Corkerhill, 7 days later.

First ScotRail. 156492 is the second set to travel to Derby for refurbishment.
It was sent south as the 5Z51 0926 Corkerhill-Derby Litchurch Lane ECS on Friday 5-May. (Photo).

Following the return of 156446, a third set has gone south - 156458 on Thursday 25-May

Two sets will be away at a time, and the RETB equipment is being swapped between sets.

one. A hybrid set was created at Norwich on Wednesday 3-May from vehicles 52419 (Central Green) and 57407 (one livery).
156419 returned to service correctly formed on 11-May.
Also on 3-May, 156402 returned from Ilford depot after tyre turning.

Northern. 156472 returned to Newton Heath on 31-May after C6 overhaul at Glasgow Works.

On 8-May, the 17:45 Newcastle - Morpeth was formed by SPT 156501.

156451 at York 10.May.2006

156451 (in the initial Northern Livery) has returned from overhaul at Glasgow works and now sports a yellow gangway cover and new door buttons

It is seen at York on Wendesday 10 May 2006, ready to depart on the 18:14 to Hull (with 156488, out of picture).

April 2006

First ScotRail. The 20 'non-PTE' sets are to undergo refurbishment work at Bombardier's Derby Litchurch Lane works.
Work is expected to include new interior trim, lighting, tables and a repaint into First group colours.
The programme is due to be completed by the end of 2006.

156446 (already in First group livery) is the first to go south, travelling via the WCML on Thursday 6th April. (Photo).

On Sunday April 2nd, ScotRail ran Football Specials for the Scottish Cup semi-final played at Hampden Park between the Edinburgh clubs Hearts and Hibernian. The regular Edinburgh-Glasgow service was operating at reduced frequency because of Engineering work at Haymarket.

8 trains ran, 2 for each clubs' supporters in each direction. These were formed of 3 class 156 units.
Hibs: 08:47/10:00 Edinburgh - Kings Park, 14:40/15:56 return (via Edinburgh Suburban and Shotts)
Hearts: 09:17/09:45 Slateford - Glasgow Central, 15:02/15:32 return (via Shotts)

The 08:47 produced 156467+156474+156453 (Photo).
The 10:00 was formed 156508+156510+156446 and the 09:45 had 156442+156514+156436.

Northern. 156472 and 142005 were noted en route from Newton Heath to Glasgow Works for overhaul, on April 27.

Northern are currently fitting Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) equipment to part of their fleet.
Unlike the equipment fitted to Strathclyde units, this system uses sensors above the doorways.
156444 and 156481 were noted with APC at the end of the month. (Photo).

Central. 156415 has returned from its period on-loan to 'one'. It moved ECS from Norwich on Saturday 8-April, coupled to failed 170108. (Photo).
