Hong Kong Hotel
Outline

My hotel was the Miramar, located on the corner of Nathan Road and Kimberley Road in the Tsim Sha Tsui area of Kowloon, opposite the surprisingly nice Kowloon park. The hotel has 524 rooms with satellite TV, mini bar and room safes (need a key card from reception). Room doors are also operated via a different key card. The hotel also has a large shopping complex across the road, connected via a bridge. It also boasts all the usual facilities of a swimming pool and fitness centre, but I never had the time to try out these facilities.

Getting to the hotel could not be easier. Buy an Octopus travel card at the airport (300HKD approx. £20), which allows an in/out journey on the Airport Express and about 50HKD credit for travel on the MTR (Metro), trams, Star Ferry and even the KCR Railway.
As you leave through baggage reclaim you will see a tourist desk on your left, you can buy your Octopus card here (all major credit cards accepted) or follow the signs for the Airport Express and you will also come across a few other desks where you can purchase your cards. Trains leave frequently so you will never have long to wait. To get to the Hotel Miramar, get off at Kowloon station and simply follow the signs for the free hotel bus service. The K5 takes you to the hotel door via the Holiday Inn Golden Mile and Park Hotel before going onto the Knutsford, Empire and BP International Hotels, but the driver tells you which hotel you are at - couldn't be easier.

My view of this hotel is that it is pretty good value and quite comfortable and best of all in a great location being very close to the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and only a 10 minute walk to the Star Ferry. Recommended
