When you arrive in Shanghai, you will almost certainly say wow !!! It is more like Hong Kong than Hong Kong itself, well that was my thought (mind you at that time I had never been to HK). Pu Dong Airport is modern and now has the Transrapid monorail to quickly get you into the city (completed in 2004, after my visit). You will probably gather, Shanghai is a very modern city with the last of the slums being knocked down when I was visiting, so you don't go here to see the old China, apart from the like of the Bund. At the mouth of the Yangtze River and is the largest economic centre, the largest port, financial centre and you name it, it happens here. |
