The following obituary was taken from the C.O.S. news letter April 2000, written by Jeffrey Mackenzie.
It
is with much sadness that I inform you of the death from a heart attack on
Thursday 18th February of Judy Neech of Cambridge.
Judy
was a very familiar figure at organ concerts up and down the country. Many will
remember Judy from the family organ shop and studio in Cambridge, trading under
the name of David Neech Organs. Judy was a brilliant electronics engineer and
had a large collection of Hammond organs of which she was very proud. Judy was
also the owner of a magnificent 105-key DeCap dance organ which she, together
with friends Wally Gunston and Wally Kerry took to steam fairs all over the
country. Plans are being formulated for the magnificent collection of Hammond
organs to stay together, if at all possible.
Judy’s
cousin, Lisa Scott, and Wally Gunston are drawing up plans to bring the DeCap
organ to Great Munden for what will be its last appearance in her name on
Saturday 8th April for the ~all day’ organ festival being staged at that
venue; the festival will be dedicated to her memory. Appropriately, raffles will
be held on that day for the British Heart Foundation and Imperial Cancer
Research.
Our
deepest sympathy is extended to Margaret Neech, Lisa Scott and the family and
close friends. Judy will be missed very much by all who knew her. I shall miss
her camaraderie very much indeed.
RIP., Judy.
