Kimberley Cooper
Born on the 24th April, 1980 in Sydney, Kimberley lived with her mother and her two older step brothers and one older step sister. She grew up in a small town called Cleveland and attended Wellington Point school. For those who don't know Aussie Geography - it's close to Brisbane.
Kimberley's first acting job was Home and Away although she has done some amateur performances including one as a 14 year old prostitute. Although she was always interested in acting, Kimberley studied ballet for 12 years and has recieved numerous awards in classical ballet, jazz and tap. And has been quoted as saying she would probably have become a choreographer if she hadn't entered acting.
Luck is the main reason she quotes behind her obtaining the role as Gypsy Nash. "Right place at the right time" is the mantra she often repeats, showing a humility that her character Gypsy could do with. Upon returning to her mother's, after winning the part of Gypsy, her mother greeted her with a tear running down her cheeck and 12 long stem roses.
Coming from a small town and being thrust into the spotlight immediatley with such a high profile role was difficult. Upon being asked her reaction to having a stalker like website (yes this one!) she replied "its only me umm a little girl from Cleveland". It's also refreshing to see that unlike some young Aussie actors (Stand up Miss Valance), she hasn't resorted to bearing all in lads magazines as she said she doesn't like cameras.
Being a famous young girl in a big city with plenty of money it was a natural step for her to become a party animal. However, her urban chic clubwear has not exactly hit it off with Australia's fashion critics, who constantly place her on the worst dressed lists - even though she lists 'Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Versace (and) Calvin Klein" as her favourite designers. She describes her favourite clothes shop, the Skull Club, as ‘not normal. It’s not what everybody likes - it’s something different.’. A bit like Kim herself.
Her love for clubbing, dancing and partying is becoming legendary. She's been on record as saying how much she loves Marylin Manson and other "different" bands like "The Cure" (or is it only one member, Roger?). For her 21st Birthday she undertook a three city drinking and partying tour which rivalled that of her close friend, and star of Neighbours, Daniel MacPherson, who turned 21 at the same time.
One interesting hobby Kimberley has is that of Kickboxing. Although we have yet to see Gypsy take up Kimberley's hobby that must be one for a future Home and Away storyline. At least we can hope....
On being asked to descibe herself, Kimberley has said 'I'm just plain and simply a freak of nature, that's the best way to describe me.' and that the best single word to describe her was "eclectic".
