What's age got to do with it?

When Gypsy decides to return to School in Home and Away her relationship with Harry is put to the test

When Harry Reynolds and Gypsy Nash embarked on a romance in Home and Away, neither of them expected it to be easy.

Sure enough, in episodes screened this week, the attractive couple face their first major crisis when Gypsy has second thoughts about becoming involved with older man Harry.

While Gypsy initially dismisses the issue, the age difference between them hits home when she makes the big decision to return to school and prsue her dream of becoming a Social Worker.

Kimberley says the "schoolgirl" tag has troubled Gypsy ever since her last long term relationship, with mechanic Jesse McGregor.

"Jesse always had a major problem going out with a schoolgirl, and Gypsy worries that Harry will feel the same way," Kimberley says. "It's not so much that it's a problem for her - she's hardly what you'd call conservative - but she worries about what other people will think."

"Harry seems cool about it, but Gypsy's not so sure. The fact that Harry used to be a teacher at Summer Bay High makes it even harder for her. If she goes back to school, then she will have the stigma of being involved with someone who used to be a school teacher"

Considering Harry's dishy looks and hunky physique, Gypsy is also likely to cop her fair share of jealous remarks.

"It's an ongoing theme for her" Kimberley says. "She's always gone out with older men and people judge her for that. It's not fair, but it's reality."

If Gypsy is forced to make a choice between Harry or her career, Kimberley isn't sure what the outcome will be.

"Gypsy has very definite ideas about things, and she has her heart set on being a social worker," Kimberley says.

"It's like she finally has some direction in her life. If going back to school means having to break up with Harry, well, she might just have to make that sacrifice."
