Hanging out with KimEven after a hard day’s work, Kimberley is the picture of the perfect host, as she bustles us into her living room for some well-earned R&R. ‘In my line of work, you really should take moments just to sit back, relax and enjoy the quiet,’ says Kimberley. ‘Well, enough of that!’ she blurts out, jumping up five seconds later. But why the excitement? Kimberley’s going out on the town with friends tonight, so as she gets ready, we get to hear her thoughts about the show and life in general. After rummaging frantically through the clothes in her room to decide what to wear, Kimberley slows down to apply her makeup and chat about the show. The first thing she admits to is that she found it a bit strange when she first started on Home and Away. The whole concept of being a celebrity was something she’d never dealt with before. ‘It was very weird to start with,’ she says. But as time passed, says Kim, she learnt to deal with it. Kimberley says she’s content to be where she’s at right now, and happy to see what happens – where things take her. ‘I’m trying not to think about the future at the moment,’ she says. ‘I’ve had my life planned since I was, like, three, so I’m not planning any more. I’m now going with the flow.’ Kimberley does admit she’s at the stage where she’s finding out what’s ‘real’ in her life, and is discovering more about friendships and about herself. One thing she’s found is she’s not afraid of the unknown. ‘I’ve never been afraid to dream big, and either not make it or make it,’ says Kimberley. ‘But I’m still chasing the dream; and hopefully I always will. I don’t want to stop chasing my dream.' Kimberley thinks everyone should have some sort of goal or dream to aspire to; otherwise life becomes dull and boring. ‘And what good is that? It’s not,’ she says, shrugging her shoulders. A knock on the door signals the arrival of Kimberley’s friends Lucy and Dee. Kimberley quickly introduces us to her friends then leaves for a night of lively chatter and a couple of games of pool. A perfect way to end a big day. |
