 Imagine our star, the sun, explodes at its birth and showers the solar system in a massive amount of early material. The, rather than seeing the planets slowly gel together, imagine an evolutionary cycle. As the star heats up and cools down, the planets gradually lose gravity and fall towards it. A constant march towards the star. A stage by stage evolutionary process where, we got anything but lucky. As the planets continue their journey towards the star, they compact and shrink in size.
