| Frankenstein and the Monster | those responsible for such wicked crimes Against the British people, to just walk away, either failed of deliberately distorted their own importance to continue with such projects.
When we look at those who scaled them castle walls, their arms adorned in feathers, their hopes high, we could forgive their idiosyncrasy; for when they took those first tentative steps they had no knowledge of Newton's laws of gravity: They threw caution to the wind, and took a leap, literally into the unknown. But what excuse did the American and Soviet scientists have when they embarked on such grandiose projects? Gravity was discovered fully, with all of its intricate workings back in the 17th century, and special relativity in 1905. Therefore, as both of these theoretically prohibit the advancement of rocket propelled craft into space on any long, or sustained journey, why pursue such ideology? And perhaps even more importantly, why still pursue it today? I think the rest of our world should be eternally grateful they never had to pay the bill for US and Soviet endeavours.
The US bill alone is estimated so far to be in the region of 1 a trillion US dollars: And where has it got them; still on the launch pad, still constructing more rockets, still going nowhere. If it wasn't so expensive, and hadn't claimed so many lives, it would be laughable. Yet a trillion dollars for a scientist to tell you they need a new type of rocket. About the most productive technology to come off the US space programme is non-stick frying pans. That says it all.
What we have to understand from this is, mankind deliberately pursued a policy he knew could never be brought forwards to fruition.
Right from the word go, after the second world war, scientists around the globe knew special relativity or a solid Newtonian wall (gravity) could not be breeched by means of a rocket. And so, for lack of a stronger idea, they continued with scientific projects knowing full well they could never venture much further than our own moon, and outer planets with unmanned probes. This wasteful expense, lack of intelligence and hoodwinking of the American and Soviet peoples has been astounding over the years.
We can fully comprehend why German scientists
enjoyed continuing with their work: A large pay packet, opulent lifestyle, lots of fame and kudos is probably a far more attractive proposition than what the British would have offered them had the US and USSR not interfered with their arrest; which would have been a court house, jury and six foot of robe when the verdict of crimes against humanity would have no doubt been returned. When them first V2 rockets impacted on English soil, sometimes butchering hundreds of innocent women and children in one vicious hit, the British perhaps realised, along with their German counterparts one awful fact: Rockets are bringers of death, not modes of transport. But unblemished by the evils of war, the wastelands of carnage and destruction from these wicked weapons, some pseudo-ideology took control. And like Frankenstein, the monster just got out of control. We can understand with an observation from ourselves, those US and USSR scientists of their day got it wrong. We can't express that more clearly.
They watched them rockets blast off, race skywards and decimates the lives of the innocent. Unannounced one tonne of high explosive would reduce a peaceful playground to a mass of rubble, with frail little bodies underneath. There was not even an apology afterwards! But human life, even that of women and children has never stood in the way of politics or progress. So they continued.
Megalomaniacs with only their own careers blinding them rushed to pursue an unattainable goal. To reiterate, they knew rockets could not fulfil their desire, not advance their understanding, but in the rush for success they continued unabated. The most telling, if not chilling aspect of this came about when the US president, Kennedy made his infamous speech.
He told the US people, and wider watching world: "The US will place a man on the moon, by the end of the decade." If someone had just taken the trouble to ask: Why? We might have learned it was no more than a political operation in brinkmanship. It served no purpose. Advanced us not one jot, and probably was the greatest waste of money the earth has ever seen. If someone in the audience had merely raised their hand and said when called:
