PREMIERE: 10th - 12th JUNE 2009
'ALL THE LITTLE THINGS WE CRUSHED'
ALMEIDA
THEATRE, LONDON
"You
know what the fuel actually is? It's history. Made of all these dead
animals, fossils, piled up and crushed 'til they're oil. Bum our past
to fuel our present, clear the way for the future..."
London in 2097 is a frightening place: a landscape ravaged by climate
change. Searching for the safe, high ground of The Extinction Project,
Zach takes refuge in a burnt out house and learns that saving the
future means understanding the past.
London 2008: Hugh and Zoe tune in to Barack Obama's victory speech.
Change is in the air and they want their part in it. The Extinction
Project is born around their kitchen table, and anything seems possible,
even saving the world from climate catastrophe.
London 2033: the turning point. A family and the human race in crisis.
When ideals are pushed to their limits is the Extinction Project about
to turn in on itself?
