The Story

JAKE is a sheep farmer on a remote island exposed to the sea. He lives alone in a weather beaten farmhouse in need of repair. The unforgiving land has made Jake tough.

Jake - Tom Bell

Jake’s nearest neighbour and friend is RAFE, a fisherman, who is young enough to be the son Jake never had. But Rafe has not chosen farming, he is a new generation who have discovered the wealth from the oil terminal.

Rafe - Callum Blue

Rafe is the same age as Jake’s daughter, RACHAEL who ran away some 5 years earlier, when she was sixteen. Rachael left in search of her mother who abandoned the family home without a word when Rachael was ten years old.

Rachael - Laura Fraser

Rachael has never been back to the island, nor had any intention of going back, until her childhood boyfriend, Rafe, calls her to say her father is dying. If she ever wants to see him again, she needs to return now.

To complicate the mix there is a young traveller, MATT, island hopping on his motorbike, taking a year out from university. He found Jake, and knows he is not dying. He knows Rafe has tricked Rachael and he decides to stay.

Matt - Luke Aikman (right) with Laura Fraser

Rafe is jealous of Matt, Rachael cares for neither, but she knows she has been tricked to go home. She is going to leave until someone drops a clue as to her mother’s whereabouts, and she is tricked into staying another day.

To her the island is a prison she aims to leave on the next flight out, but it never happens. She finds herself battling with the memories of her childhood, problems she thought she had been dealing with since she left and the two young men who both want her attention for different reasons. She just wants to find the truth about her mother.

The only truth is, she should never have gone back.
