Following the end of HBP, Harry and co. find the Horcruxes in a matter of weeks, and force a final confrontation with Voldemort during the summer; Snape, meanwhile, has revealed his true allegiance, and fights as one of the Order's commanders. At the victory celebrations, two soldiers get gloriously drunk and end up in bed together. The more sober of the pair really shouldn't have taken her partner up on his drunken enthusiasm when he was really far too drunk to give informed consent, but she did - and she didn't know he'd be back in his old job come September. Now Hermione and Snape both have to cope with the fact that she's carrying his baby....

Hermione was spirited away from the battlefield by an unknown captor, and magically brainwashed into believing that Voldemort won and that her captor is hiding her and keeping her safe in return for very grim sexual favours. When Harry finally locates her, thirteen years later, he starts on a trail which may lead to the rescue of a fellow prisoner who has suffered even worse, or may lead to a wrongful accusation against him.

A series of vignettes of Snape's thoughts and feelings at various points in the books. I've listed it as post-HBP because the first two are set during HBP, but it will probably cover the whole series once finished. WIP

As the castle falls to a Death Eater onslaught, a darkly-dramatic Severus tries to persuade Hermione to flee with him. Taken in small bites the writing is beautiful, although en bloc I find it a bit headache-making.

The Antidote (a.k.a. 52 hours) by jin fenghuang
Slash WIP, set some time after Snape has been accepted back into wizarding society and the Trio are sharing a flat. Ron catches Harry and Snape in a compromizing position and is convinced that Snape must have slipped Harry a love-potion, from which it is his duty to rescue him. Not IMO quite up to the usual very high standards of this elegant writer, but still worth a look.

Lost and sad, Harry finds comfort in building a boat and thinking about sailing away.

Snape has been vindicated by information left by Albus, but is still widely ostracized. He ends up brewing potions for St Mungo's, where he becomes caught up in the aftermath of the final battle, trying to heal hideous burns suffered by Hermione and Ron by means of a bit of very antique, folkloric magic. Snape is languishing in Azkaban, but Hermione will decide to spring him. Amusingly written, although the grammar is a little odd. Start of WIP

Years after the war, Hermione asks Snape to teach her how to make love but he finds she has serious "issues" about touch. Not quite a PWP because it has something to say about sex, as opposed to just being about sex - if that makes sense.

Bedside Manner by Strega Brava
Although this was written long before HBP came out, it could easily be canon-compatible. The final battle has occurred, some years after the Golden Trio graduated, and Snape is now in hospital being nursed back to health by newly-qualified mediwitch Hermione, and resenting every moment of it. Light and sweet in tone, despite his injured state.

The Bells of Passion's Watch by swooning
It's a couple of years after the war, and Snape is now a decorated hero, although not much better-tempered. The Weasley twins co-opt Hermione into helping them produce a novel-length romantic daydream for sale, but the testing process goes wrong, and first Hermione and then Snape become trapped together in a ship-board bodice-ripper. Bermuda's Triangle by Kyra and Alex
Harry has gone missing, and Britain is being invaded by an unknown race of super-intelligent and murderous giants, who attack both sides of the war indiscriminately. Snape is hiding out in the Forbidden Forest, living on the land and on supplies salvaged from the ruins of Hogsmeade. Hermione, fleeing from a Minsitry under siege, performs a spell which will apparate her to the mysterious giant-slayer of whom she has heard rumours - expecting that it will be Harry.... WI(very slow)P

Between the Shadow and the Soul by Emeleye
Temporarily removed for re-writing. Voldemort is victorious, but Harry and co. are still part of an active resistance. During a raid, Hermione rescues a prisoner so battered that at first she doesn't even recognize him as Snape - last seen killing Dumbledore, and a loyal Death Eater as far as she knows. WIP. A Bitter Bargain by The Treacle Tart
One-shot with a slight slash element. Years after the war, Snape is trapped in a prison worse than Azkaban when Ron comes to him, seeking help for Harry who is dying from a poison which Snape created. Sad but ultimately hopeful.

Black Story by Jay Tryfanstone
Fairly explicit slash story, dark and sweet by turns. Harry's ability to perform wandless magic has grown to the point where he fears to use it, and he has warped the minds of the wizarding world, taken away the memory of Voldemort's return and of his own rôle in his downfall, and convinced most people that he is a Squib. Then Snape turns up, a desperate refugee but also the only man who still knows who Harry is. Harry gradually falls for Snape, but Snape suffers from severe sexual dysfunction as a result of both chemical and psychological damage due to some of the things Voldemort forced him to do (which are graphically and sickeningly described). Highly unpleasant in places, but beautifully written.

After Dumbledore's death Minerva McGonagall sits awake fretting about who is responsible for Snape going so badly wrong - and half-wondering whether he really has done.

Vignette: when Harry is left stunned and traumatized after the defeat of Voldemort, who will care for him?

Blood and Fire by Cluegirl
Sad but ultimately hopeful slash piece. Harry binds Snape to him magically, first to ensure his loyalty, then as an act of revenge, to ensure Snape lives long enough to pay for his crimes. Snape is hounded, vilified and tormented by a public which hates him, and the binding means that every time he is attacked and brought close to death the magic brings him back to Harry, or brings Harry to him. After nursing him back to health several times Harry becomes progressively more fond of him and more concerned for him; Snape, however, would rather be free to die than continue with what he sees as magical enslavement.

Blood and Presents by Cloudtrader
An immensely horrible, slightly slashy story which I include just because it's so creepily well-written. The Order lost the final battle and Snape and Harry are being held captive at Malfoy Manor and progresively tortured into insanity. Potentially canon-compatible (as if one would want it to be), if you assume that Draco has been Imperiused by Daddy.

Bondsman 2541D by Allocin
The war is over, and the surviving Death Eaters have been enslaved - including Snape. After several masters have tried - with near-total lack of success - to break his spirit he ends up as Bondsman to Lupin; who in fact is part of a conspiracy to end slavery. Sweet but ultimately tragic [you have been warned ].

Bound to Silence by cecelle
Three-part story: Hermione is sent to collect Wolfsbane from Snape and discovers him living a meagre existence under house arrest. He initially distrusts her efforts to improve his lot, seeing them as charity.

Brief Encounter by Pavonis Mons
Vignette: could be AU or could be the end of Harry's 6^th year. Dudley has turned Goth, and Vernon complains about Life, the Universe and Everything to a nice, respectable woman he meets at Kings Cross Station.

The Brightness of Candles by duj
Ingenious, elegant little one-shot. Dumbledore's death has left Harry to deal with a Riddle - in more senses than one.

Burn Your Starry Crown by The Last European
The war is over, and Snape, Hermione and the Whomping Willow are the only survivors from Hogwarts - delicate and sad.

Burnt Chrysanthemums by Shy Violet
At present this story seems to have got lost in Sycophant Hex's transfer to a new archive. Strange, minimalist, atmospheric piece about Hermione encountering (and briefly becoming the lover of) a Snape who is a hunted refugee, in danger of death from exposure and starvation. Burnt Down to the Soul by Elsa2
Harry stalks Snape with intent to kill, only to find him in the act of destroying the last horcruxes. Sad and gruesome, but also beautifully written and immensely visual.

Carrefour by wallyflower
Hermione and Snape's budding friendship is overturned by his negative reaction her growing interest in him. When she saves his life in battle he assumes she did it to put him in her debt. Years later they meet as Unspeakables and he realizes he was wrong to suspect her motives, and tries to start again. WIP, will be a two-parter.

A Change for the Better by Yulara
Mildly slashy piece in which Snape has been left paralysed after the final battle, and is being cared for by Lupin. Slightly canon-shafted because Dumbledore was in the battle without explanation. A version of the famous film Whistle Down the Wind , with Snape as the fugitive stranger in the barn.

Christabel by Incapability
Snape musing on his desire to avenge a lost love murdered by Voldemort many years ago, and his drive to be the one who finally kills the Dark Lord. I wasn't sure whether or not to include this one because it's a tad sentimental, and there are some awkward passages which suggest that English isn't the author's first language. But it also has some fine and darkly-poetic descriptions of how Snape sees himself and his quest for vengeance.

Clearest Blue by PD Boggart
Snape is in prison for Dumbledore's death, and Harry visits him, hoping for some answers. Sad and sweet.

A sweetly sinister little one-shot which takes what seems like a silly idea - Snape teaching Harry to knit - and turns it into a tense and creepy look at Occlumency under pressure, as two fugitives try to keep their minds sealed against the hunters who are pressing all around.

Snape fulfills his life-debt to James Potter by saving Harry after the final battle, and then disappears - but Dumbledore's will requires Harry to find Snape and help him. WIP.

The Convict by Leliha
Some years after the war, Snape has been magically bound to work as a labourer, and effectively a slave. Although he has a reasonable master the conditions he lives under are very restrictive, and a tentative renewal of acquaintance with an old school friend could get both of them into trouble. This story starts off very slowly, and at one point looks as if it might turn into a Mary Sue, but it gradually builds up to a really painful intensity.

Costing Not Less Than Everything by Jenna Black
A very sad little piece: Snape has been reunited with the Order and Draco has taken his place as a spy, but Snape must gradually watch the war erode everything and everyone around him. [Warning: irritatingly full of typing-errors. ]

Covet by Verity
Atmospheric, rather obscure WIP. Hermione is captured and handed over to Snape, who treats her well-enough in an off-hand sort of a way. A connection grows between them and he is left rather forlorn when she finally escapes: but then she volunteers to become the Order's new spy among the Death Eaters....

Well-written and creepy, rather violent one-shot with a songfic component, looking at Snape's relationship with his father and with Albus.

Death Wish by Midnightzstorm and Kedavra
Despite having been apparently ordered to do it by Dumbledore, Snape feels horribly guilty about killing him. He goes on a bender which only makes things worse and then convinces himself he is the murderer of James and Lily, even of Sirius, and wishes that he had never been born. A powerful talisman grants his wish and he finds himself, confused and hungover, in a parallel universe where Lily and James are still alive - and Voldemort's rise was never checked. WIP

Desperate Measures by Anastadne
In their suspicion of Snape, Harry and Ron come within a second of lifting the lid off a potion whose poisonous fumes could kill half the school. Too far away to stop them, Snape distracts them by faking the start of a sexual assault on Hermione: but instead of recriminations, when she understands that he has just saved them all, the heightened emotion prompts an unexpected declaration of love which leaves Snape confused and guilty. Harry and Ron, however, are not at all grateful, and get Snape into terrible trouble with the Board of Governors. The initial pseudo-assault is a bit of an obvious plot device (although there is a half-plausible explanation offered as to why simply slapping Hermione wouldn't have done the job), but it's extremely well-written for all that. Begins towards the end of Book Six and extends after it. WIP

A Different Kind of Wisdom by edana
Luna has been captured by the Death Eaters, and Snape must interrogate her. He appears superficially to be loyal to Voldemort but is doing his best to save Luna on the quiet - but is finding her self-contained eccentricty rather hard to manage.

A sinister, Ninja-like assassin is recalled to Voldemort's side, and told to kill an unnamed Death Eater. Meantime Bellatrix lands a whole heap of trouble, and an unconscious Hermione, right in Snape's lap. Written in a darkly-polished, slightly mannered but very accomplished Gothic style. WIP

Sad but well-written: Snape dies in getting information about the last Horcrux to the Order, and Harry, as one of the few people who knows the truth, has him secretly buried at the foot of Dumbledore's tomb, and visits the grave every year.

Dumbledore's Men by Bil
Harry, depressed and failing in his attempt to find the Horcruxes, encounters Snape near a possible hiding-place. Too tired to fight, instead he demands answers - and gets some that surprize him. Slightly sentimental, but sweet.

The Echo of a Feather Fallen by Featherwish
Snape lies unconscious in a hospital bed. Lupin tries, and fails, to hate him, remembering how they met on their first journey to Hogwarts, and a friendship which died almost as soon as it was begin. WIP

Everything I've Ever Done by duj
After the end of the war, Snape and Hermione very gradually and grudgingly (and waspishly and wittily) build up a relationship. Loosely canon-compatible in that Dumbledore appears to be dead, although there is no mention of Snape having been accused of killing him. Also see Everything I've Ever Done: Reunion, below. Pretty-much anything by duj is worth a look as she writes very well, and her stories about Snape have a quality of kindness and tenderness towards him which is very appealing.

Everything I've Ever Done: Reunion by duj
Twenty years after the war, Snape and Hermione are married, and one of their children is best friends with a girl who turns out to be the daughter of Percy Weasley; who has faked his own death and fled from his family to live as a Muggle. Sequel to Everything I've Ever Done.

Eyes of a Tragedy by crazylizzie
Long one-shot: some years after HBP, Hermione and Snape are lovers but the final battle is coming, and they make love for what may be the last time. Sexually explicit but elegant and emotive rather than pornographic, although IMO it could have done with being a bit more concise.

Slash one-shot. Abandoned in Azkaban, Snape is slowly going mad from loneliness and boredom when he hears someone tapping on the wall of his cell.

A delicate little vignette, playing with the idea that Irma Pince is really Eileen Prince. Under sad, strained circumstances a mother watches her son, though each is hidden from the other.

Fate's Sticky Fingers by Igorina
Long one-shot: a sparkly, amusingly-written, fairly explicit look at a clandestine affair between Snape and a 25-year-old Hermione.

Fifteen Minutes in Church by KatyaX
Quiet, atmospheric vignette. A fugitive Snape comes to a church near Hogsmeade in the middle of the night, seeking a few minutes of solitary contemplation, but Hermione is there before him and they share a moment of understanding.

The Fifty Move Rule by N. Kitty
Hermione is seriously injured during a Death Eater raid on Hogsmeade and is rescued, to her amazement, by Snape and Draco. Interesting characterization and a very nice clear, clean prose-style. WIP

Flickers of Ascension Unseen by A-Spirit
Beautifully-written, dreamy slash WIP. Somehow, during the war, Snape's and Harry's enmity turned to desire. Years later, Harry is married to Ginny but he still dreams of Snape. Hermione is both sympathetic and jealous - because so does she.

Fool Enough by Styx
Hermione is the only one willing even to consider that Snape might still be on the side of the Order, so he kidnaps her and persuades her to act as his go-between. Well-written and in character, despite the author having for some reason stuck to the pre-HBP fanon, but almost impossible to reconcile with canon, idea of the Snapes as an aristocratic family with a mansion. For You Served Heaven by Holly Mariano
Voldemort is still a towering threat, Snape has been captured and imprisoned in Azkaban for the murder of Dumbledore, and Harry is pressing for his execution. Hermione, sent to interview Snape on behalf of the Order, comes to realize that even if he's a sour, sarcastic bastard, he is less murderous and dangerous than Harry has become. WIP

Forgive Us Our Debts by DrMM
Long one-shot: years after the war, Snape is allowed to teach but bound by petty restrictions. Hermione, a fellow teacher, gradually learns to see his actions during the war as necessary moves in a greater game.

Four Drabbles for June by Patripatan
Four linked vignettes. Sirius watches through the Veil, not alive but not properly dead, a sort of stranded semi-ghost, as Snape struggles to cope with past and present. Follows on from The Traitorous Heart.

The Fourth Year by Calligraphy
Slash piece. Snape was handed over to Harry as a bonded servant after the war, four years ago, and they have reached a domestic understanding which gradually develops into something more. Contains the best description of the ad hoc, make-it-up-as-you-go-along style of cooking I have ever read, and the term Chicken What has been permanently added to my vocabulary.

A collection of odd, slightly surreal little vignettes, mostly about the aftermath of the war. See particularly Loyalty, tenacity, integrity and kindness. in which Harry's animagus form comes as something of a shock, especially to Bellatrix....

One-shot: on the night before the final battle, at a desperately raucous Order get-together, Snape and Hermione share a moment of awkward understanding.

A Funny Kind of Hero by guillumos
Confusing but beautifully-written slash piece. Teenage Snape falls through a hole in time and falls in love with Ron in a period after adult Snape has supposedly died. He has to go back to his own time to prevent an anomaly - but how then can they be together?

Ron, the chess player, thinks about the moves Dumbledore has made, with both himself and Snape as pieces.

Gifts by Annie Talbot
The second of a pair of stories. In the first story, I'll Never Take Advantage, Hermione is knocked into a spell-induced coma during the final battle. Snape must marry her, and consummate the marriage (once), in order to provide the magical protection which will keep her alive. He is then left to care for her in the teeth of widespread accusations that he is exploiting her, and attempts by Umbridge to have her removed from his care - in the full knowledge that this will kill her. In this sequel, the newly awoken Hermione attempts to sort out her involuntary marriage with Snape, complicated by the fact that he is convinced that if he has sex with her again that would mean he was exploiting her, and they both must give sometimes embarrassing evidence at the trial of Dolores Umbridge. One-shot follow-up to Survivors : can be read on its own, but better taken as a sequel to the earlier story. Snape was vindicated after the war and he and Hermione are now happily married, but he has been left with lingering disabilities and in chronic pain as the result of injuries inflicted by Voldemort. Hermione waits anxiously for him to return from a symposium at which he has, in his own inimitable way, been having fun.

Good Night by Unscathed
This was written long before The Half-Blood Prince came out, yet could easily be a vignette from afterwards. In a war of shadows and stalkers Harry falls foul of Snape, whose true allegiance is unknown to him.

The Hall of Heroes by Pavonis Mons
After taking a Killing Curse meant for Hagrid in the final battle, Snape ends up in the wrong afterlife.... Clever, funny and touching. Slightly AU in that it was written so long ago that some of the teachers have been ascribed random, wrong first names, but could otherwise conceivably be set some time after HBP.

The Hanged Man by Lady Lazarus 00
I wasn't sure whether to list this as pre or post-HBP - it begins the day after Dumbledore's death, but then goes into a flashback to Harry's fourth year, and it's not clear yet which period will be more dominant. During the Tournament year, Snape encounters a young woman who seems to be a Muggle, but who recognizes and flees from his Dark Mark. She turns out to be a witch who never attended Hogwarts, claiming to be a Squib although in fact she's a sort of wizarding idiot savant whose power has all been directed down one narrow channel. That sounds like a recipe for a Mary-Sue; but actually the story is strikingly well-written and so far it comes across as a mystery-thriller. WIP

Extremely explicit but well-done and (so far as one can tell when the characters spend all their time shagging) fairly in-character near-PWP. The war is still ongoing, Snape has been accepted back into the Order as having been acting on Albus's instructions throughout, and for reasons which are never explained he and Harry have ended up hiding out in a tiny flat together, getting on each other's nerves, until irritation suddenly flowers into eroticism.

Slash WIP. In the intense hours before the final battle, Harry makes Snape an extravagant offer, to make up for having doubted his loyalties. After the victory, Snape takes him up on it. Explicit but not gratuitous, the physical aspects of the relationship are believably awkward and human.
