EXPLORE EXMOOR AND THE EXMOOR COAST

The coastline of northern Exmoor  stretches for 34 miles  in  and out  of

the inlets between Minehead and Combe Martin. The convex hogback

Exmoor seacliffs rise to over 1000ft above the beach hiding the coastal

scenery below the southwest coastpath.  This secret world  is known as

The Hidden Edge of Exmoor, a place where few have trod.  A  variety

of sea birds and hawks inhabit the Exmoor cliffs, deer can also be found.

Exmoor’s seacliffs are the highest in England, the tidal range between

high and low water is the second highest in the world creating currents

that  are  visible around  the  foot of the headlands.  Huge  caves  and

waterfalls of  200ft + can  be visited, and natural arches explored.

The Exmoor cliffs are rich  in  minerals.     Disused mines and limekilns

can be found in the remote western section of the Exmoor cliffs. Recent

landslips  provide  the  opportunity  to  hunt  for  fossils  and  minerals.

Guided walks on Exmoor and guided descents of the cliffs are available,

unfortunately you must be over 18 and reasonably fit with some basic

scrambling experience  to  take part  in guided descents / ascents of the

Exmoor cliffs. The Exmoor coast traverse is not the southwest coastpath

If you are interested in walking on Exmoor or would like to descend into

The Hidden Edge of Exmoor, email your name and Tel No. I will get back

to you to discuss your intended route. Exmoor National Park
