This Could Be Our Finest Hour
My next collection of short stories was supposed to have been, This Could Be Our Finest Hour, which was due to be available from the Kobo Bookstore on the 3rd May 2022. However, this book, with its title taken from the lyrics of a Colin Moulding song, has been superseded by, One Hundred And One Strange Stories, which contains some of the new stories that would have been in ..Finest Hour plus a large number of stories from my other books - all in my '..dark, humorous, occasionally puerile..' style of short story telling.
A few examples of the new stories are:
- Og-Rurah And Fly
- A love story from the internet.
- The Dinner Party
- A dinner party produces an unexpected evening of interest for the otherwise disinterested John, with the discovery that his sister-in-law's daughter, Lucinda, has 'club a baby seal' on her bucket list.
- For The Sake Of Mary
- Mary finds a book in a charity shop which sets her on the path of the dark, demonic arts.
- A Zebra Is Not Just For Christmas
- How to bury a giraffe in your back garden.
- Together, Side-By-Side
- A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Andy picks a fight in a bookshop.
- Animal Rights
- Police identity recognition cameras cause John to end up at the zoo.
- A Homage To Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson
- Boris discovers his wooden shed has been replaced with a brick shed built by some German bricklayers.
- Jack The Balloon Twister
- It is never a good idea to mix balloon twisting and politics. One is the employment of hot air to create useless constructions that sadly deflate or can be burst by the reality of a sharp object; the other is balloon twisting.
This Could Be Our Finest Hour will be published at some later date (not necessarily in the original form that it was envisaged to be in).
